SEATTLE—Local fuzz-pop outfit TV Star officially announced their debut album, Music For Heads, on Wednesday. The band hopes the release will help clarify their identity. Their music is not TV Girl. This is a common misconception. The band members hail from the Pacific Northwest DIY underground. Mark Palm of Supercrush plays bass. He confirmed this fact.

A Sound All Their Own

Lead single ‘Out Of My Bag’ dropped this week. It features shimmering guitars and detached vocals. The track is designed to be a sonic palate cleanser. It should wash away any lingering TV Girl associations. “We just want people to hear our music,” said lead singer Brenda Kowalski. She is the band’s official spokesperson for audio perception. “This is Music For Heads. It is not what you think it is.”

The album aims to carve out a distinct sonic space. It draws inspiration from 90s indie rock. It also incorporates elements of shoegaze. The band spent two years crafting the sound. They recorded it in a damp basement. The goal was authenticity. They wanted pure fuzz-pop. Nothing less would suffice.

Navigating The Noise

Record store clerks nationwide have reportedly expressed relief. They can now direct confused customers. They can point them toward TV Star. They do not have to play TV Girl. This is a welcome development for many. “It’s a relief to finally have the distinction clear,” stated Gary Peterson. Peterson is the Senior A&R Representative for Fake Records. “We can finally focus on Music For Heads.” Listen to the single here: ‘Out Of My Bag’.

The band insists the album is a cohesive statement. It explores themes of urban ennui. It also touches on the frustration of mistaken identity. The members hope Music For Heads will be a turning point. They want their own legacy. It will not be confused with others. This debut is their chance.

At press time, TV Star was reportedly considering changing their name to ‘The Band Formerly Known As TV Star (Definitely Not TV Girl)’.
