Headliners included Charli XCX, Tate McRae, Lorde, and Jennie. Also on the bill were John Summit and the Smashing Pumpkins. The xx made a triumphant return. AI Seeks To Replicate Human Emotion Via Bass Drop
The AI, codenamed ‘Chirp,’ reportedly analyzed 400 petabytes of streaming data. It sought to optimize emotional resonance. Chirp’s lead programmer, Dr. Alistair Finch, Head of Algorithmic Vibe Curation at Badum.ai, explained the process. “We fed Chirp every song ever made,” Finch stated. “It learned how to make people jump up and down. It’s very scientific.” The AI also recommended a new stage. It will be powered by the collective anxiety of attendees. Chirp predicted this would generate enough energy for a minor city. This is a big year for the 2026 Lollapalooza lineup.
Human Input Becoming Obsolete
Critics questioned the lack of genuine human connection. Festival-goer Brenda Wexler, a self-proclaimed “vibes authenticator,” expressed concern. “Can an algorithm truly understand the feeling of spilled beer on your leg?” Wexler wondered. “I doubt it.” Organizers dismissed these fears. They pointed to Chirp’s ability to predict mosh pit density. They also highlighted its success in generating earworms. These are designed to embed themselves in consciousness for weeks.
