SAN FRANCISCO—Guitarist Ethan Miller officially expanded his Odyssey Cult supergroup project this week. The legendary psych-rock mastermind recruited dozens of underground musicians for the upcoming album Vol. 3. However, highway patrol officers recently pulled over the band’s tour bus. Authorities discovered that the entire cabin was filled with premium fog machine fluid. The band members had consumed all oxygen inside the vehicle.
A Dense Wall of Sound and Vapor
"We wanted to capture a vibe that was truly immersive," said Rusty Calhoun, retired stadium acoustician and current touring safety consultant for the group. "Ethan did not just want to play psych-rock. He wanted the band to physically become the cloud of smoke. We had to remove the seats to fit the extra subwoofers. We also replaced the air conditioning system with six industrial stage hazers."
The newly expanded Odyssey Cult supergroup now features seventeen bassists, nine synthesists, and a man who solely plays the electrified triangle. This massive lineup has created logistical nightmares for local venues. Most stages cannot support the weight of their vintage tube amplifiers. The sheer volume of their rehearsals has reportedly caused local milk to sour instantly.
The Logistics of Psychedelic Warfare
"My lungs feel like wet velvet," said Marcus Bellweather, Spotify's Senior VP of Playlist Emotional Intelligence. "We tried to categorize their new single for our 'Chill Psych' playlist. But the file size was too heavy because of the density of the fuzz pedals. This Odyssey Cult supergroup is actively threatening our server stability with their mid-frequency feedback loops."
At press time, the band was seen attempting to fit a nineteenth drum kit through the back door of a 100-capacity dive bar while the local fire marshal wept openly on the sidewalk.
