BROOKLYN—Couch Slut frontwoman Amy Rose Mills unveiled a new solo album, I Think We’ve Met Before. The record promises a departure from the band’s usual sonic bludgeoning. Fans are bracing for the unexpected. This softer iteration comes nearly a month before its official release. Mills stated the new material is designed for “gentle contemplation.”
A New Sonic Palette
The album features guest spots from Theo Nobel and Anya Good. Mills described the lead single, “A Little Treat,” as “a warm hug from a distant acquaintance.” Early listeners reported mild confusion. “It’s not bad,” commented Beatrice Quibble, Professional Listener. “It’s just… quiet. I expected more existential dread.” The album explores themes of mild ennui. Mills denied rumors of a “chillwave phase.”
The Couch Slut Continuum
Couch Slut is known for extreme noise and confrontational live shows. Mills’ solo work thus far has maintained a certain level of intensity. I Think We’ve Met Before seems to intentionally subvert these expectations. “It’s still me,” Mills assured reporters. “Just… with less feedback.” Brenda Fuzz, CEO of Avant-Garde Appreciators, noted the album’s “unassuming pleasantness.” She added, “I almost fell asleep.”
At press time, Mills was reportedly considering a second solo album. It would be titled Maybe We Should Just Be Friends.
