The cyber spies successfully penetrated security walls at NASA, the Federal Reserve, and the Department of Justice. Federal investigators confirmed the hackers left all sensitive national security data completely untouched. Instead, they targeted vast archives of blank, interactive fillable forms.

"We observed unprecedented lateral movement across our digital infrastructure," said Donald Gribble, Deputy Undersecretary of the Bureau of Unused Digital Paperwork. "They did not want missile schematics or interest rate projections. They wanted the 2014 version of Form 1099-MISC with the editable blue boxes. They bypassed our firewall in minutes. Once inside, they cloned millions of blank travel reimbursement sheets. It is a devastating blow to our administrative aesthetic."
Intelligence experts believe the hackers spent months mapping the digital basements of the U.S. Department of Justice. They bypassed several troves of active criminal investigation files to reach the ultimate prize. These prizes included thousands of unformatted, password-protected employee timesheets. Some of the stolen documents even featured outdated agency logos.
