NEWCASTLE, AUSTRALIA— Former Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies launches new band The Kiln this week. He formed the group alongside Grammy-winning producer Joseph Prielozny. The duo announced their debut album will drop in 2027. Music historians confirmed this represents the longest pre-album rollout in post-grunge history. The band name reflects their aggressive ceramic theme.

A Very Slow Bake

The duo spent six months calibrating the studio thermostat. They claim the audio files require extensive heat curing. Otherwise, the snare sounds turn into damp mud. Prielozny previously won a Grammy for engineering high-temperature mixes.

"We refuse to rush this thermal process," said Dr. Thaddeus Mbeki-Ransome, Chair of Applied Hype Studies at the Institute for Trending Phenomena. "When Ben Gillies launches new band projects, the clay must sit. If you rush the drying stage, the choruses crack. Nobody wants a cracked chorus in 2027."

Bidding On Hot Vinyl

To celebrate the news, the group launched a charity auction. They pressed exactly four test vinyl copies. One copy is currently sitting inside an actual industrial furnace. The band listed the item on eBay with a hazardous material warning.

"The vinyl is currently glowing orange," Prielozny stated in a press release. "The winning bidder receives oven mitts. All proceeds go toward repairing damaged pottery worldwide. We take our ceramics extremely seriously."

Industry experts remain confused by the timeline. Most modern rock bands release songs weekly. The Kiln plans to release one track every fourteen months. They insist the sonic density demands patience.

At press time, Ben Gillies launches new band merch including branded safety goggles and wet stoneware bricks.
