FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OMAHA—Indie rock veterans Cursive share "Wounded Animal" today as the lead single from the upcoming Who’s Watching soundtrack. The track marks the latest sonic assault from frontman Tim Kasher. Kasher also directed the accompanying found-footage horror film. Label executives expect the song to reach tens of people nationwide.
A Synergy of Pure Dread
"We are thrilled to leverage our core competencies in anxiety," said Marcus Bellweather, Senior VP of Sonic Discomfort at Saddle Creek. "Cursive share 'Wounded Animal' to synergize our media verticals. This song captures the feeling of being watched by a stalker. It also captures the feeling of looking at your bank account after buying vinyl."
The band recorded the track in a basement to maximize the claustrophobic atmosphere. Bassist Matt Maginn reportedly wore a wet wool sweater during the tracking sessions. This creative choice added a layer of physical misery to the performance.
The Soundtrack of Your Nightmares
"Our target demographic is sad men in their late thirties," said Priya Vantablack, Chief Vibes Compliance Officer at TikTok. "This key demographic loves Cursive. They also love feeling deeply uncomfortable in dark rooms. The song delivers on both fronts."
About Cursive: Founded in 1995, Cursive is a band that your older brother tried to explain to you at a Thanksgiving dinner. They specialize in angular guitars, yelling, and making listeners feel like they forgot to lock their front door. They will likely tour this album to half-empty dive bars until the heat death of the universe.
