REDMOND, WA—Tech giant Microsoft admitted Tuesday that its latest Windows 11 KB5120998 update contains a minor bug that completely erases user mouse cursors and replaces them with localized, infinite-density black holes. The company released the patch last night to improve system widget performance. Instead, millions of users reported that their desktops immediately collapsed into tiny, swirling gravitational voids.
A Total Desktop Collapse
The company acknowledged the glitch after thousands of customers flooded support forums to report that their wallpapers had turned pitch black. "We wanted to streamline the desktop experience," said Marcus Bellweather, Senior VP of Playlist Emotional Intelligence at Spotify, who was consulting on the software update's sensory design. "We did not expect the Windows 11 KB5120998 update to physically pull the user's taskbar, recycle bin, and nearby office supplies into a single, inescapable point of infinite mass."
Technical analysts confirmed that the glitch occurs during the boot sequence. When the system attempts to render the default white arrow pointer, the graphics card experiences a division-by-zero error. This error warps the fabric of local spacetime. Several users reported that their physical desks began to sag toward the center of their monitors shortly before their screens went dark.
Warping Spacetime for Performance
Microsoft has urged users not to panic or look directly into their LED displays. "This is a routine software hiccup," said Dr. Helene Vasquez-Thorne, Lead Researcher at the Center for Studies That Confirm What You Already Suspected. "Our data shows that 98% of users do not actually need a mouse cursor to enjoy their operating system. They can simply navigate the cold, dark void of their hard drives using keyboard shortcuts or telepathy." She added that the Microsoft support team is working on a hotfix to patch the laws of physics.
At press time, Microsoft engineers advised affected customers to leave their computers running, step back at least fifty feet, and gently toss any unwanted household trash toward the glowing event horizon of their monitors.
