WASHINGTON—The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a mandatory recall Thursday for the 2026 House battleground map following reports of severe voter disorientation. Federal officials warned that the interactive graphic contains structural flaws. These defects cause users to stare blankly at purple swing districts for hours without gaining useful knowledge.
Hazard Identification
Regulators identified the primary hazard as an overwhelming overdose of speculative data. According to an official safety notice, the House battleground map features volatile margins of error. Exposure may cause rapid eye fatigue, sudden spikes in blood pressure, and persistent doom-scrolling. The risk increases significantly when users adjust the slide toggles near contested suburban precincts.
"We observed multiple test subjects attempting to comprehend how a three-point shift in Ohio affects national policy," said Janet Holloway, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Things That Shouldn't Exist. "Within minutes, subjects experienced total cognitive overload. Some users began muttering about turnout demographics to empty rooms." The agency urged citizens to visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission portal to report secondary symptoms.
Affected Units And Remedy
The recall affects all digital versions of the House battleground map published across major media platforms this week. Consumers currently interacting with these graphics must step away from their screens immediately. Regulators advise replacing the charts with pictures of calm landscapes or simple, non-partisan shapes.
"These interactive charts give users a false sense of control over complex political systems," said Dr. Thaddeus Mbeki-Ransome, Chair of Applied Hype Studies at the Institute for Trending Phenomena. "Users tilt the map left, then right. Yet, the real world remains completely chaotic. It is a severe design flaw."
Consumers who downloaded or embedded the map should delete the cached files. Federal agents will begin remote decommissioning of all interactive House battleground map widgets at midnight.
At press time, regulators extended the recall notice to cover all pie charts depicting public sentiment.
