The company will replace its entire suite of mobile apps with a single, untextured digital sandbox. Company officials hope the move will satisfy regulators and prevent future lawsuits regarding the mental health of teenagers.
The Digital Sandbox Era
The new software offers no feed, no direct messaging, and no filter options. Users under eighteen will instead stare at a static beige rectangle. They can drag a pixelated blue bucket across the screen using their index finger. "We wanted to create an environment where children cannot be cyberbullied," said Mark Zuckerberg during a press conference. "By removing all human contact and most colors, we have achieved total child safety. This is the future of social connection."
The policy change comes after state attorneys general sued the company for hooking children on dopamine loops. Under the new rules, the digital sandbox will automatically lock itself after three minutes of play. A prompt will then advise the minor to go outside and look at a tree.

Child advocates expressed cautious optimism about the radical redesign. Others questioned if the beige rectangle might still prove too engaging for developing brains.
