SAN FRANCISCO—Acclaimed noise-pop veterans Deerhoof announce new album Divine Schism today. The band will bypass traditional streaming platforms entirely. Instead, they will broadcast the 12-track record via a high-frequency telepathic beam aimed exclusively at neighborhood dogs. This marks the band's first release since their previous album, which they famously distributed through a series of cryptic Craigslist posts.
The Canine Connection
The band designed the lead single, “Sun Like It Hot,” for the unique auditory range of domestic canines. Human ears will register only a faint, rhythmic static. However, local golden retrievers have reportedly reacted with intense, avant-garde tail wagging. The band hopes this new distribution model bypasses the corporate greed of modern music platforms.

A History of Unusual Formats
This release follows a long line of unconventional distribution methods for the group. Last year, the band collaborated on a split single with a weeping fig houseplant. For this rollout, the band will perform the record live in a series of municipal dog parks. They will use specialized silver whistles instead of their usual guitars.
