BIRMINGHAM— Folk-pop icon Phoebe Bridgers and industrial metal titan Justin Broadrick have finalized their latest project. The upcoming Phoebe Bridgers collaboration will feature ninety minutes of pure, unfiltered dental drill feedback layered over acoustic sadness. It marks their second joint venture since Bridgers featured the Godflesh founder on her latest album.
Screaming Into The Void
The duo recorded the project in an abandoned cold war bunker. Sound engineers captured the audio using contact microphones attached to rusted iron girders. "Phoebe wanted something a little more textured this time," said Lucinda Okonkwo-Bright, Director of Forward-Looking Regret at Meta. "We felt that traditional instruments did not fully capture the dread of modern existence. The dental drill really bridges that gap."
Fans of the last Phoebe Bridgers collaboration expressed immediate concern for their own eardrums. Prominent indie blogs warn listeners to purchase industrial-grade hearing protection before streaming. The record label plans to ship the vinyl edition inside a block of solid concrete.
A New Wave Of Sadness
Broadrick expressed immense satisfaction with the recording process. "Phoebe has a very brutal scream for someone who wears skeleton pajamas," Broadrick noted in an interview with The Guardian. "We spent three days just tuning a pneumatic jackhammer to her vocal register. It was beautiful."
At press time, Bridgers was reportedly scouting an active volcano for a live-streamed acoustic set featuring a backing band of tactical sirens.
