LONDON— Indie rock outfit Terra Twin announced their new EP, Scumbag, on Thursday. The band also released the EP’s first single, “Parking Lot.” Terra Twin frontman Maxim Baldry juggles music and acting. He currently appears in Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings series. This duality is reportedly straining the band’s ability to schedule band practice.
Band Practice Difficulties Mount
Sources close to the band confirmed that rehearsals are frequently interrupted by Baldry’s demanding acting schedule. “We were trying to nail down the bridge for ‘Parking Lot,'” said lead guitarist Brenda Finch, who also serves as Terra Twin’s official Snack Coordinator. “Suddenly, Maxim gets a call. He’s needed back on set to practice his elven pronunciation for a whole afternoon. It really kills the vibe.” The band’s new EP, Scumbag, is expected to reflect these struggles.
Baldry, who previously appeared on shows like Hollyoaks and Years And Years, has found success in both fields. However, some critics worry this multi-hyphenate approach might dilute his artistic output. “It’s tough to be taken seriously as a rock god when you’re also negotiating for Gondorian tax breaks,” commented music critic Reginald Pumble, Senior Fellow at the Institute for Existential Rock Studies. “The EP’s title, Scumbag, really speaks to this internal conflict.”
Tour Dates Confirmed
Terra Twin is slated to embark on a European tour alongside fellow indie darlings World News. The band hopes to use the tour to solidify their sound. “We’re hoping to write some new material on the road,” said Finch. “Maybe something about the trials of being in multiple demanding creative industries. Or maybe just more songs about parking lots.” Further details about the EP and tour can be found on Stereogum.
At press time, Baldry was reportedly stuck in a wardrobe fitting for an upcoming episode of Lord Of The Rings, delaying the mastering of the Scumbag EP.
