Product Recall: Data Center Backlash Hits Core Power Grids

Federal regulators issue an urgent recall for several facilities experiencing severe data center backlash and grid failure.

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission today issued an urgent recall notice for several regional facilities experiencing severe data center backlash. The affected units have begun drawing more electricity than local power grids can safely supply. Regulators warn that these facilities may emit a high-pitched whirring sound before collapsing the regional energy infrastructure. The hazard impacts millions of homes situated near the rapidly expanding facilities.

Hazard and Affected Units

According to the official CPSC recall directive, the affected units include all model-year 2024 hyper-scale server complexes. These facilities process artificial intelligence queries. They currently consume enough power to light a small European nation. The agency noted that a severe data center backlash has occurred among local residents who prefer having working refrigerators to generating AI art of dogs wearing hats.

"We did not anticipate this level of heat," said Lucinda Okonkwo-Bright, Director of Forward-Looking Regret at Meta. "Our servers are currently hot enough to melt lead. We advise all neighbors within a ten-mile radius to unplug their toasters immediately to prevent total grid failure."

Remedy and Action Plan

Owners of the affected facilities must immediately power down all non-essential processing units. This includes algorithms designed to predict when users will buy more laundry detergent. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that operators physically unplug the facilities from the national grid using insulated rubber tongs.

"The data center backlash represents a critical system error in our national planning," said Dr. Arthur Pendelton, Chief of Thermodynamic Regret at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. "We built these things next to rivers. The rivers are now boiling. We suggest consumers cool their homes with wet towels until we can relocate the servers to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean."

At press time, federal technicians are attempting to cool the northern Virginia server corridor by having three thousand interns blow on the motherboards simultaneously.
