LONDON—Innovative electronic producer Sam Shepherd, better known as Floating Points, has officially released his highly anticipated new ballet score, Floating Points ballet score, which chronicles the terrifying Greek myth of Pandora’s Box. Representatives from the Royal Opera House confirmed that the debut performance successfully summoned a swirling vortex of ancient, shrieking entities directly into the orchestra pit. The composer designed the multi-movement work to explore curiosity, change, and the literal manifestation of eternal damnation through modular synthesizers.
A Masterclass in Controlled Chaos

The production marks a bold new direction for the artist, who previously focused on jazz-infused electronic beats.
Unlocking the Box
The label expressed immense pride in the project despite the ongoing metaphysical quarantine of Covent Garden. "Pandora’s about bringing hell to Earth," Shepherd noted in a promotional pamphlet, while pointing at a tear in the fabric of spacetime. The choreography features dancers leaping over growing fissures in the stage floor. Audiences described the experience as both musically transcendent and physically hazardous.
